Beer Bacon Skillet with Meat and Potatoes in Just 30 Minutes
A fabulous meat and potatoes skillet made especially for my Iowa bred husband. A man’s meal that I fell head over heals in love with. Seriously it is amazingly sweet and savory with a special ingredient that makes this dish ahhhh-mazing!
Beer Bacon Skillet with Meat and Potatoes in Just 30 Minutes
Ingredients
- 1 pound thick cut bacon
- 1 pound sweet Italian chicken sausage, or your favorite sausage
- 1 medium onion, sliced into ¼-inch rings
- 3 medium potatoes, sliced into ¼-inch coins (I used 1 sweet, 1 red and 1 Russett potato)
- 12 ounce bottle beer, I used Blue Moon
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, fresh ground
- 1 tablespoon low sodium chicken base
- 2 cup water
- 1 cup frozen green beans
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage, cover. Brown on each side, turning once.
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Lay bacon on the prepared baking pan, touching, but not overlapping. Place pan into oven (while it is still preheating) and bake for 15-20 minutes until bacon is crisp.
- Slice onion and add to skillet. Stir and add beer, salt and pepper. Cover.
- Slice potatoes with knife or mandoline to 1/4-inch thick. Add to skillet and stir. Add water and chicken base. Stir and cover.
- Add frozen green beans to skillet. Stir to combine. Cover.
- Combine butter and flour in a small mixing bowl. Stir until you have a smooth mixture and add to skillet.
- Remove cover and allow mixture to boil for 5 minutes. Lower heat if necessary. As sauce thickens, remove from heat. Serve and enjoy!
