Smores Cones are a mess-free alternative to the classic camping treat! Prep waffle cone smores in just a few minutes and enjoy with family and friends. Tasty treats like this are always a good idea!
Stuffing an ice cream cone with s’mores filling may seem a little strange, but trust me — you will never make s’mores the old way again!
This is a great way to put a spin on old recipes to create new recipes – and I’m here for the fun twist.
While I love good classic s’mores, I’m all about trying to get that flavor in different ways.
And I love that this is a slightly less messy version – while still having that traditional s’mores flavor.
Anyone who loves chocolate dessert will love making their own s’mores this way.
It will easily become one of your favorite camping desserts or is a great idea for a simple rainy day treat at home.
You don’t have to use the coals of a fire to make this delicious treat, but it sure does make it a lot more fun!
Smores Cones
Not only are ice cream cone s’mores less messy to eat, but everything is melted evenly and toasted to perfection.
Plus, you can prep them ahead of time and toss them on the coals instead of doling out all of the components separately.
Once your smore cones have been devoured, just toss the wrapper for easy cleanup!
No fire pit? No problem! Capture all of the flavor of these campfire desserts with air fryer hand pies, this gooey s’mores dip, or Crockpot Smores Candy.
They can all be made right in your kitchen, no flames required.
How To Make Waffle Cone Smores
Smore cones require a little bit of finesse but are really quite simple to put together.
Combine the marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers pieces in a bowl, then stuff each ice cream cone with the filling.
Seal smore cones individually in foil, then place on top of the hot coals away from the flames. Be sure to turn them frequently so everything melts evenly.
Once they’re done, allow waffle cone s mores to cool before removing the foil so you don’t burn your fingers.
Smore Cones Flavor Varieties
Get creative with your fillings or set up a do-it-yourself station so everyone can customize their own waffle cone s mores!
- Swap out the candy: Chopped-up Reeses cups, Rolos, or even Andes mints add a little extra flair. Or, replace half of the Hershey bars with caramel bits.
- Add a spread: Line the inside of the cone with a thin layer of peanut butter, hazelnut spread, or cookie butter before stuffing.
- Drizzle the top: My homemade caramel sauce or chocolate syrup makes these smores cones extra indulgent.
- Include some fruit: Fresh berries or banana slices add extra sweetness, and you can even use them in place of the chocolate if you’d like!
Other fun options that you can use or swap in and out would be peanut butter chips, graham cracker pieces, flavored mini marshmallows, butterscotch chips, chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups, crushed chocolate chip cookies, milk chocolate squares, white chocolate chips, caramel chips, peanut butter m&m’s, marshmallow cream, or any of your other favorite ingredients. Have fun changing up this delicious dessert!
Ice Cream Cone S’mores FAQ
Any variety of sugar cone should work, but stay away from wafer-style cones. They aren’t as sturdy and may burst or disintegrate in the process.
I recommend the day before at most, just so nothing becomes stale. Stack waffle cone smores in a sturdy container so they don’t get crushed, and keep them in a cool place so the chocolate doesn’t melt ahead of time.
Absolutely! I’ve also made these on a propane-style outdoor fire pit with great success.
If you don’t have any open-fire options, you can also bake waffle cone s mores in the oven at 350°F for 4-6 minutes. This is a great alternative when you have a lot of little ones around or want to make a larger batch.
Enjoy!
