Air Fryer Omelette
Simplify your breakfast prep with an easy, no flip air fryer omelette! Loaded with colorful bell peppers and plenty of cheese, it’s the best way to start your day.
While it isn’t technically an omelette in the classical sense of the word — the egg isn’t folded over top of the filling — it ends up tasting just the same and it’s so much easier to make.
Seriously, this foolproof method makes breakfast a snap to make. And if your air fryer is big enough, you may be able to cook two or three at the same time!
Try a few more ways to spice up your morning eggs, like a breakfast burger or Italian baked eggs with sausage.

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
- Eggs – This air fryer omelet recipe is designed for two large eggs. You may need to make some adjustments if yours are larger or smaller.
And you can always use egg whites or a carton of liquid eggs instead! - Seasonings – A simple blend of onion powder, dried basil, and freshly ground black pepper adds loads of flavor and complements the other ingredients.
Go ahead and toss a little garlic powder in there too if you’d like! Or, switch up the herbs for another favorite. - Veggies – Since I always seem to have bell peppers on hand, I love to dice up one of each color to toss in my air fryer omelet.
Other delicious options include mushrooms, onions, and spinach, though it would be best to saute those separately first. - Cheese – I used a blend of Colby Jack and Mozzarella. Both melt down so smooth in a flash, plus the flavor is mild and won’t overpower the eggs.
Use whatever kind of cheese you’d like, as long as it’s grated fresh off the block for maximum melt! Some goes in the egg mixture, then the rest gets melted on top.
Tips and Tricks to Make the Perfect Omelette in Air Fryer
- Preheat your air fryer, and with the pan inside if possible!
This only takes a few minutes, and you can do it while you’re whisking the ingredients together. Preheating ensures that your egg mixture gets cooking immediately.
I like to grease my pan and let it heat up in the basket too so the edges of the omelette get a little crispy.
- Whisk the eggs thoroughly.
You want to get plenty of air mixed in to create that fluffy texture and ensure there aren’t separate bits of white and yolk.
If desired, you can also add a splash of milk or cream to the egg mixture to really get it nice and smooth.
- Get creative with fillings and seasonings!
This is such an easy recipe to truly make your own — and a great way to use up any veggies or meat before they go bad.
Kids love an air fryer omelette with bacon and cheddar, and it’s easy to make a deluxe version with onions, mushrooms, and fresh Parmesan cheese on top!
Prefer some heat? Include a pinch of cayenne pepper to the egg mixture or add a few dashes of hot sauce before serving.
Prep Ahead
- Shred the cheese
- Dice bell peppers
- Preheat air fryer
Kitchen Tools You Will Need
- Air Fryer – Different brands and sizes may require different cooking times, so be familiar with your model and make adjustments as needed.
- 6-inch Cake Pan – I use a Wilton aluminum cake pan and coat it with olive oil. If you prefer, you can line yours with parchment paper
- Mixing Bowls – I like to have a variety of sizes on hand, and this set has them all.
- Whisk – These have held up for over 10 years and are still as good as the day I bought them.

But this omelette air fryer recipe is so easy to make, you might as well cook it up fresh every time!
Maybe you made a batch of these for a breakfast spread and need to save the stragglers.
Simply pop one in the microwave or back in the air fryer and heat until warmed through.
Omelette Air Fryer FAQ
It typically takes 8-10 minutes to air fry an omelette, though the time can vary based on the overall thickness and other ingredients used.
Because I make my air fryer omelette in a deep 6-inch round pan and stop to add cheese at the end, it tends to need an extra minute or two — meaning 11-12 minutes total.
No, you do not need to flip your omelette when you make it in an air fryer.
Everything cooks evenly and at the same time in whatever pan or container you make it in. Hooray for no mess!
You bet! Bacon bits (especially freshly crumbled strips) or diced ham are great options, though I have been known to toss some leftover breakfast sausage in there from time to time.
Whichever you choose, be sure that it’s fully cooked first!
Enjoy!
