Once you sink your teeth into these bacon cheeseburger bites, you’ll be amazed at how these taste just like a double bacon cheeseburger!

For more bite-sized favorites, try these chicken parm meatballs or my easy Italian sliders. Both are ready in under an hour, and you can double or triple the recipes as needed.
And you can never go wrong with any of my famous bomb recipes! There are plenty of fillings to choose from, ranging from breakfast to dessert.
Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
- Muffin Base – Combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and kosher salt to give your cheeseburger muffin cups structure and a soft, fluffy texture.
- Unsalted Butter – There’s plenty of salt in this recipe, so cut it where you can. If salted sticks are all you have on hand, reduce the amount of kosher salt by ⅛ – ¼ teaspoon.
- Whole Milk & Eggs – If you have the time, let these warm on the counter for a bit before getting started. Be sure to beat the eggs in a separate bowl first. You can also use skim milk if needed.
- Cheddar Cheese – I like to use mild cheddar in these cheeseburger cups, but sharp cheddar or Colby would be tasty too. And for a spicy kick, try Pepper Jack instead!
- Ground Beef & Bacon – Cook both ahead of time and let them cool. Drain off any excess grease from the beef and crumble the bacon into small pieces.
Tips and Tricks to Make Perfect Cheeseburger Bites
- Try a different meat!
For a leaner option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef. You could also turn these into a tasty brunch offering with your favorite breakfast sausage.
- Add some spice.
Swap the regular salt for a seasoned variety, or add a dash of hot sauce for an extra kick. Even a little Worcestershire sauce will go a long way when it comes to flavor!
- Don’t need as many?
Easily halve this cheeseburger cups recipe, or make a full batch and freeze half for later.
- Time-saving tip:
I love to cook big batches of ground beef in the slow cooker, then portion them out to freeze for recipes like this one!
If you’d rather cook it fresh, you can pop the bacon in the oven while you brown the meat on the stove.
Prep Ahead
- Cook ground beef and bacon
- Grate cheese
- Whisk eggs
- Grease muffin pans
- Preheat oven to 350°F
Kitchen Tools You Will Need
- Mini Muffin Pans – These are the kind with 24 wells per pan, not the standard dozen.
- Large Mixing Bowl – I like to have a variety of sizes on hand, and this set has them all.
- 1 Tablespoon Scoop – The easiest way to fill your muffin pan and get evenly sized cheeseburger cups.
- Cheese Grater – Fresh cheese makes this recipe even better! Skip the bagged shreds and buy a block to grate yourself.
Serving Suggestions
Pair these cheeseburger bites with all of your favorite burger condiments for dipping — ketchup, mustard, mayo, and even relish!
Add a simple salad or veggie dish as a side, or toss some fries in the air fryer and call it a day!
Cheeseburger Cups Recipe FAQ
It’s worth a try! Just watch your time, as larger cheeseburger muffin cups will likely take longer to bake.
When prepared as a meal, adults will typically eat 4 to 6 cheeseburger cups each, along with a side dish.
You could probably reduce that amount by half if serving at a potluck with many dishes to choose from.
Absolutely. Flash-freeze them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, then store them in an airtight container or freezer bag. They should keep for 1 to 2 months.
When you’re ready to eat, pop them in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes or until warmed through.
Storing and Reheating Cheeseburger Muffin Cups
Once cool, transfer leftovers to an airtight container or zippered storage bag. Bacon cheeseburger bites will last for about 3-4 days in the refrigerator.
Reheat a couple in the microwave or a larger batch in the oven.
Enjoy!

I really like recipes like these. Take a classic favourite and make it finger food. only thing, it's too dangerous. Since it is so small, the calories are negligible, right?
You have absolutely nailed the perfect finger foods 🙂 Thinking of you Donna and hope you and your family are doing good.
amazing!! Thank you for yet another great idea! Even i prefer finger foods when the hubby works late!
Amazing! Thank you for yet another great recipe! Even i prefer finger foods when my hubby is working all night 😀
Could I use bisquik and get same results?
I want to know that too!
i use turkey meat and goat cheese with mine and my health nut personal trainer friend loves these bit size puffs
Sounds awesome!
Have you ever used standard sized muffins vs. mini sized? I don't really want to have to go and buy mini muffin pans. Just wonder if it would take longer to bake or would they be too heavy altogether if bigger?
I would try the regular size muffin pan. Watch your time, as it will most likely take longer to bake. Let us know how it goes and enjoy!
Do you need to fry bacon and ground meat by for adding? And could you use bisquick?
Check your local thrift shops, we have one called the lions club and they always have great deals, I got a mini muffin pan $1.50.
I would love to make these, but, 2 teaspoons of salt? Also bacon and cheese that has salt. Do you have the nutritional values for these little gems?
Feel free to adapt the recipe to meet your needs. You can put the your ingredients into a nutritional facts calculator like this one: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp
Enjoy!
Finger foods are so much more fun to eat and these look delicious!
Thanks Julie!
Holy moly…count me in for these little beauties! Your recipes are inspired.
Thanks Candace. It's the cheese that is inspiring though. 🙂
I made these for a baby shower I hosted because the mom to be was craving cheeseburgers. Substituted ground turkey and used much less salt. Also, I made them the day before and then just reheated in the oven before serving. Big hit!
That is awesome! These are the perfect appetizer and a baby shower app sounds like a lot of fun!
I want to make these for a superbowl potluck at work, if i reheat in the oven the morning before work (make them the night before) do you think they would stay good in a crock pot on warm all morning? Or would I not reheat in oven and just let crockpot warm them up?
can these be frozen?
Absolutely. Just reheat in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until warmed through. Enjoy!
How many are considered a serving size?
It depends. If you are making the mini muffin tins, my 5 year old eats about 2 or 3 and we eat 4 to 6, along side a salad or veggie dish. I hope that helps. Enjoy!
how can I get this recipe for 8 instead of 48
how can I make this for 8 instead of 48 please?
Try dividing everything by six!!! Since there are two eggs, beat them then take one-sixth and use the rest for scrambled eggs.
I'm gluten free. Think these would be similar if I used quinoa and egg to bind?
amazing!! Thank you for yet another great idea! Thanks for sharing this recipe.
These taste exactly like a bacon cheeseburger! I love making finger foods for kids because it means less dishes! They loved these and ask for them all the time!
Love how simple this recipe was, and it turned out great!
