Butterfinger Brownie Frosting a simple recipe that is spectacular enough for special occasions and easy enough for any day. This rich and creamy peanut butter frosting is speckled with Butterfingers and is perfect to top your favorite dessert.
We have received so many emails from our readers raving about the Butterfinger Brownies we shared last month, and telling us all the ways you have been enjoying the frosting.
We know how good this chocolate peanut butter frosting is because I use it on brownies, on cupcakes and even on chocolate cake. It is absolutely amazing and if you can keep yourself from eating it with a spoon while you are preparing it you have more will power than I do.
Butterfinger Brownie Frosting
It all starts with a fabulously creamy, perfectly peanut buttery buttercream frosting. Then just the right amount of crunched up candy bars bits are stirred in. It is then whipped until it is light, fluffy and out of this world delicious. They are going to go nuts over it.
Enjoy!
With love, from our simple kitchen to yours.

Butterfinger Brownie Frosting
Equipment
Ingredients
- 12 ounces Fun Sized Butterfingers
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 15 ounces honey roasted peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2-4 tablespoons milk, if needed
Instructions
- Add candy bars to the bowl of a blender/food processor until they are pea size crumbs. Divide into 2 bowls, one for frosting and one for garnishing. Set aside.
- Combine butter, peanut butter, powdered sugar, vanilla and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Beat on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 3 minutes, then add the candy bar crumbs reserved for the frosting (continue to hold back the crumbs used for garnish). Add them in on low, then switch to medium speed and beat until light and creamy. If mixture is too thick, add milk 1 tablespoon at a time beating between each addition until it is thick like frosting, but thin enough to spread with a spatula. Beat mixture until well combined.
- Spread frosting over top of cooled cupcakes, 9×13 cake or 9-inch (2-layer) cake, brownies or your favorite dessert. Sprinkle reserved candy bar crumbs over the top of the frosting to garnish. Serve and enjoy.
