Ingredient Notes & Substitutions

  • Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes – Well, obviously! You’ll need 5 – the amount that you get in one box! Convenient, right?

There are other flavors of Christmas tree cakes out there, so go nuts and use whatever variety you want!
  • Cream Cheese – You’ll need to soften this on the counter first (about 30 minutes) so it blends smoothly with the other ingredients.
  • Heavy Whipping Cream – A thick cream is how you get a thick, creamy dip!

If you’re looking for a substitute, then try adding either regular milk or half in half in smaller amounts until the consistency is closer to what you’re looking for.
  • Red & Green Sprinkles – Time to get that iconic Christmas color scheme!

Other seasonal sprinkles are fine to use, too – colored sugars are cute and festive, and little snowflakes would certainly fit right in. Be creative!

Dessert Dip Recipe Tips & Tricks

What is Little Debbie Christmas tree cake dip, really? When it comes down to it, it’s just a couple of snack cakes whipped up into a dippable dessert.

So think about your favorite flavors and ingredients and go to town! You can add in some whipped cream topping if you want a lighter, fluffier dessert.

Don’t like cream cheese? Don’t use it! You can thicken this dessert dip with a bit of cornstarch instead or use a bit less heavy cream.

Extra icing, boxed cake mix, or cream cheese can be used to enhance any single flavor so it’s the way that you want it to taste!

Finally, be sure to really blend those snack cakes! You don’t want big chunks, after all.

Small pieces are going to happen here and there, but get rid of the larger ones as best possible!

If you don’t have a mixer, chop them up as finely as you can with a knife before mixing in the rest of the ingredients.

Storing, Freezing & Serving Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake Dip

This dessert dip recipe freezes pretty well! This means that you can save it for other holiday gatherings!

The important thing, as always, is to store your dessert dip in an airtight container to keep it fresh, preserve texture, and prevent contamination.

This is true for both refrigerating and freezing!

Leftovers will last in the refrigerator for up to a week – the bits of cake in the dip will start to get a bit soggy and deteriorate the longer it’s kept, so the sooner you can eat the last of it, the better!

Try not to keep it at room temperature for longer than 2 hours, otherwise, the cream cheese will begin to spoil.

As for serving, I like to plate up some graham crackers and strawberries!  Cookies, pretzels, and vanilla wafers are some sweet options you’ll want to try, too.

Christmas Tree Cake Dip FAQ

What are Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes?

They’re these tasty little snacks made with yellow cake and coated with a silky smooth white frosting! They’re colored with a bit of red frosting and green sprinkles for a fantastically festive look.

They come in a chocolate flavor, too – you can use those if you want!

Are Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes the same as Zebra cakes?

The two snack cakes are incredibly similar, to be sure – from the cream filling to the yellow cake, it’s hard to tell the difference between them!

The biggest difference is the fudge icing included in the Zebra cake. Other than that, the cake layer in the Christmas snack is a tad thinner.

Can I use other Little Debbie snacks to make this dessert dip recipe?

Absolutely! As we touched on above, you can use Zebra cakes to make an identical dip that you can serve year-round. That’s what makes this Little Debbie Christmas Tree Dip the best. It’s a festive dip for the holiday season, but it doesn’t have to be!

Other varieties like the Unicorn, Birthday, Fancy, Frosted Fudge, etc. are all tasty and are easy enough to whip up just like the Christmas tree cakes.

The biggest thing is complementing the flavors and adjusting amounts so that the consistency and taste is just right. But the amounts I have listed here are a great starting point for making a dip with any snack cake you find at the store!

Most Little Debbie Snack Cakes or seasonal snack cakes would be great for the perfect addition for a holiday dip, so have fun mixing and matching and making new dessert dip recipes.

Enjoy this fluffy dessert dip. It’s sure to become your favorite holiday snack cake dip!

This is seriously perfect for a holiday movie night and is the perfect addition or the most wonderful time of the year.
