White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino Recipe (Starbucks Copycat)

Ingredients
 

For Toasted White Chocolate Syrup

  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup dulce de leche

Frappuccino

  • 1/2 cup toasted white chocolate syrup, See Notes
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 shots espresso, cooled
  • 3 cups ice

Instructions
 

  • To the top bowl of a double boiler simmering over low heat, add the white chocolate chips and heavy cream. As the chocolate begins to melt, whisk the mixture until smooth.
  • Add the dulce de leche to the chocolate mixture and continue heating and stirring until combined and smooth. Set aside to cool.
  • In a high powered blender, combine ½ cup white chocolate syrup, whole milk, espresso, and ice. Blend until the mixture is fully combined and thick, but smooth.
  • Divide frappuccino between two large glasses. Garnish with whipped cream and a sprinkle of red sugar crystals. Serve immediately.

Donna's Notes

This recipe yields about 1 cup toasted white chocolate syrup. Using ½ cup in the frappuccino adds sweetness and a subtle flavor. For a stronger white chocolate flavor, use up to ¾ cup syrup.
You can also add a pump of vanilla syrup for more sweetness.
Substitute a store bought white chocolate syrup if you don’t want to make your own. The dulce de leche lends the toasted flavor. You can add a spoonful of dulce de leche directly to the blender if you use store bought white chocolate syrup.
To prevent the ice from melting, be sure the espresso and the white chocolate syrup are cool before adding to the blender.
To make a hot drink: Add ¼ cup toasted white chocolate syrup to the bottom of each glass. Add espresso. Steam milk and pour over the top. Top with whipped cream and sanding sugar.
